Les Dragées de Verdun

55100 VERDUN
Confectionery

Gault&Millau's review

Confectionery An almond coated in sugar and honey... such was the dragée imagined by a Verdun apothecary in 1220. Over the generations, the dragée evolved to become, around 1600, the confectionery as we know it today. Since 1783, Braquier has been perpetuating the craftsmanship of its production. This delicious confectionery is a traditional end-of-meal accompaniment to special family occasions. Another speciality is "L'Obus de Verdun": a chocolate shell that explodes, releasing sugared almonds, sweets and gadgets, to the delight of gourmets young and old! This Obus was imagined by Braquier in the wake of the 1870 defeat, and in reference to the Battle of Verdun a few decades later. But whatever the origins, this specialty allows Verdun to lend its name to a product that will leave fond memories! Factory outlet at 50, rue du Fort-de-Vaux.
