Gault&Millau's review2025
Conceived as a tribute to Juliette Récamier, a woman of letters and Châteaubriand’s muse who epitomized the golden age of Parisian life in the late 18th century, this boutique hotel in the 6th arrondissement exudes a refined and whimsical atmosphere, just a stone’s throw from Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Spread between the historic “La Vie Parisienne” building on the street side and the contemporary “l’Abbaye-aux-Bois” wing on the garden side, the 45 rooms and suites—decorated by Anne Gelbard—feature a skillful blend of contemporary design and one-of-a-kind pieces: headboards by Brazilian designer Gezo Marques, Hermès wallpaper, vintage portraits, and antique bathtubs on lion-footed stands. Most overlook a flower-filled, poetic garden, where guests can take a break after exploring the neighborhood. Guests can also recharge in the spa, which resembles a romantic boudoir, featuring an indoor pool, a hammam, and treatment rooms.
