Remarkable Restaurant
The tireless Alexis Albrecht, who also energetically runs a winstub in the heart of Strasbourg (Au Coin des Pucelles), brings all his expertise—as a pastry chef, head chef, and purveyor of good vibes—to the family-run inn in Rhinau, in the heart of the Ried. Here you’ll find Alsatian meals just the way we like them—generous, thoughtfully prepared, and a source of pride for their region—though that doesn’t preclude a few creative touches, like the “Italian menu” served in late summer. The menu offers a wide range of options: the classic and delicious pan-seared goose foie gras with strawberry butter, or swordfish carpaccio with local herbs and flowers, sliced Rhine pikeperch with a tagetes vinaigrette, or veal sweetbreads with wild mushrooms and elderflower sauce—all while, of course, leaving plenty of room for desserts, including Alexis’s “festival.” An extensive tasting menu for €130, and a well-stocked wine cellar featuring wines from Alsatian vintners.
