Somewhat overlooked between its two larger neighbors, Cabourg and Deauville, Houlgate is a favorite spot for those who know the coast well and happily enjoy the smaller crowds here in the summer. Nicolas Tougard’s restaurant has been a go-to spot for nearly twenty-five years, serving excellent regional cuisine at reasonable prices. The €54.50 set menu is perfectly balanced, featuring bluefin tuna marinated in Sichuan pepper, yellow bell pepper and coconut gazpacho, wild sea bass fillet with Paimpol clams and baby vegetables, shrimp cream, or the tender veal chuck with warm foie gras and creamy polenta.
