At the very top of Mont Cindre in Saint-Cyr au Mont d'Or, in the heights of Greater Lyon, you'll find a convivial family restaurant perched on the hill. If you're brave enough, you'll have to walk the few meters from the restaurant to the magnificent Hermitage overlooking the city. The service is warm and the cuisine generous, with a velvety, slightly salty squash soup, sprinkles of hazelnuts, chestnuts and pan-fried foie gras escalope, followed by a very good rack of pork and an apple-pear caramel beurre salé éclair, a comforting dessert that will make you want to sink into your seat and get closer to the fire burning in the center of the large dining room. All that's missing is a good plaid and a hot chocolate, and you'll never want to go home again.
