Gourmet Restaurant
History doesn’t tell us whether Fabrice Weber, the manager of this restaurant located a short distance from the harbor and downtown Paimpol, had planned to put his cleats back on. In any case, following the departure of the duo—Anthony Pierson, who handled savory dishes, and Perle Henneman, who handled sweet dishes—who had arrived just two years ago, Fabrice has now been forced to return to the kitchen. While his wife Aurélie’s hospitality remains as professional as ever, and the setting is undeniably charming with its garden terrace tucked behind the house, the food struck us as inconsistent and a bit below par. No complaints about the mushroom ravioli with (flavorful) broth and summer truffle. The same goes for the gilthead sea bream ceviche (generous portion), served with marinade and grapefruit, though the acidity was a bit much. On the other hand, the (slightly dry) veal grenadin with eggplant, zucchini, and heirloom tomato confit would have benefited from a slightly thicker, more flavorful sauce. The dessert was pleasant enough. The wine list, while well-curated, could use a slight digital refresh.
