On the banks of the Deûle River, Christophe Scherpereel’s restaurant is the first little eatery at the entrance to Lambersart, where food lovers gather in familiar surroundings. A champion of convivial, communal dining, the chef is as renowned for his superb seafood menu as he is for his traditional delights—from plates of oysters to an all-lobster menu, or regional classics—all best enjoyed with a cold beer. While the execution isn’t always perfectly consistent (the Maroilles flamiche was a bit dry), the meal is still a pleasant experience, featuring the must-try Cambrai andouillette with veal sweetbreads and Dijon sauce, as well as excellent cuts of meat. Classic desserts. The wine selection is a bit limited.
