Description

Mediterranean cuisine to savor at the port of Nice with a breathtaking view of the “pointus”—those typical Provençal boats that line the docks—is the picture-perfect scene Francesco Battaglia offers from the terrace of his restaurant, Marechiaro, dedicated to the sea. Originally from Avellino near Naples, the chef draws inspiration from Campania and the magnificent Amalfi Coast—where he lived for many years—to create seasonal dishes with Neapolitan flavors, such as zuppa di cozze (mussel soup with shrimp, prawns, octopus), or taralli napolitano, a traditional Neapolitan cookie. In the summer, you can enjoy a lovely plate of swordfish or tuna, and in the winter, fresh monkfish or grouper caught directly from the Mediterranean. But the homemade pasta and pizzas—or the iconic Milanese cutlet—are sure to delight your taste buds as well! With fresh ingredients and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, the chef knows how to bring all the elements together to make your visit to Nice unforgettable. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 11:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays until 10:00 p.m. (closed on Sundays). Follow the restaurant on social media: Facebook (@Marechiaro-Port-de-Nice) and Instagram (@marechiaro_nice).
