Beaujolais nouveau, the Gault&Millau choice
For over 70 years, Beaujolais Nouveau has appeared on the third Thursday in November. Their mantra is the idea of convivial, fruity, gourmet wines made from the Gamay grape variety. New wines are mainly vinified by carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration, which speeds up alcoholic fermentation. This November 17th marks the release of Beaujolais Nouveau 2022 from over 700 producers in the region. To mark the occasion, we present our 6 favorite tasting wines.

Summer wines: 5 Beaujolais
Beaujolais is undoubtedly the "buddy wine" par excellence. Often very fruity, easy-drinking and straightforward, it can be enjoyed without fuss or fuss: ideal for vacations. All Beaujolais wines are made from a single grape variety, Gamay, on predominantly granitic terroirs, and always retain a clean acidity that makes them fresh and easy to drink, especially in summer. For summer drinking, look for this fruitiness and palatability in five of the ten crus, all located in the northern part of the vineyard. These wines should be opened young (no more than 3-4 years), and served slightly chilled to bring out the red fruit flavors of strawberry and raspberry.

The 26th Concours International des Vins Organiques et en Conversion took place on Monday May 9 in Paris. The program featured 634 organic wine samples from 13 countries around the world. This international competition, founded in 1996 by Pierre Guigui, a member of the Gault&Millau tasting committee, aims to highlight organic, biodynamic and in-conversion wines. Since this year, it has been organized by Armonia, a company specializing in the organization of wine and spirits competitions. 200 medals were awarded by the jury, which included Gaul&Millau. Among the gold medal winners, we have selected a few whites and reds that are a must-taste.

A taste for the finer things in life, combined with extensive professional travels around the world, have given creators and designers new ideas. An increasing number of fashion and lifestyle brands have been tempted by the hotel business. Italy's Ferragamo and Spain's Camper were the first to make their move. A number of French brands soon followed suit. The investment is often colossal, and the hotel business is a long-term commitment, but the adventure seems irresistible. So, are hotels the new spearhead of lifestyle? In any case, the movement is well underway.

Hotels, code changes
For a long time, the hotel market was divided between, on the one hand, very family-run establishments and, on the other, a few large hotel groups duplicating their concept without questioning themselves. The arrival of online travel agencies (Airbnb et al.) and, above all, of a generation Z cultivating new consumer habits has pushed the hotel industry into a state of flux, particularly in the luxury segment. Small, human-scale groups have emerged. They embraced the word "collection" and began to change codes.

Baux (blancs) de Provence
Representing just 7% of the total volume from just 243 hectares of vines in the Les Baux-de-Provence appellation, white baux are a true rarity. In this magnificent, unspoilt environment, only 11 estates share the vineyards all around the Alpilles. By 2023, the entire appellation will be certified organic. Zoom in on a pearl of the South.
