Gault&Millau's review 2025

A wine that needs to be aired to develop a lovely, complex bouquet of flowers, blueberry, garrigue and basil. The palate is structured, with a chewy texture combined with the lightness of floral notes. The fruit is always present, giving the wine length. A wine to keep.

Domaine de la Mordorée
The estate’s motto? “For the love of the land.” That says it all—or almost all—for this relatively young estate, founded in 1986, certified organic since 2013, and Demeter biodynamic since 2020. Following in the footsteps of Francis and his son Christophe, the estate is now run by his wife, Madeleine, and his daughter, Ambre. The estate spans 42 hectares across 8 municipalities and 5 appellations: Lirac, Tavel, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Condrieu, and Côtes-du-Rhône. The number of cuvées per appellation is limited: a single Condrieu—a tribute to Christophe—two Tavel, three Lirac, and two Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It’s worth noting that a few “Vin de France” wines round out the lineup, including a sparkling rosé called “Les Bulles de la Mordorée.”
