Founded in 1957 in Crouttes-sur-Marne, on the outskirts of Champagne, the estate is run by Françoise Bedel, who took over from her parents before being joined by her son, Vincent Desabeau. Here, as in the Marne Valley, Meunier is the dominant variety, accounting for 7 of the estate’s 9 hectares of vineyards. A pioneer in the region, Françoise converted the vineyard to biodynamic farming in 1998, at a time when the practice was still considered niche. True to the family motto, “The knowledge of the terroir, the flavor of knowledge,” the estate favors extended aging and offers remarkable wines with distinct personalities that have been cellared for more than ten years.
