Gault&Millau's review 2020

Seven years' ageing on laths for this cuvée from the Verzenay terroir. It has undergone neither malolactic fermentation nor wood ageing. The nose is delicate and creamy, with vinous notes punctuated by hints of red berries (raspberry). The palate is marked by clean acidity, citrus fruits (grapefruit, peach) and fresh walnuts. This fine 2009 vintage has retained all its freshness.

Growing vines on the Montagne de Reims, Maison Penet is now represented by Alexandre Penet. Among the 6 ha of vines cultivated, the most singular, classified 100% Grand Cru in the villages of Verzy and Verzenay, are vinified according to a very precise parcel-by-parcel approach. These are authentic, uncompromising gourmet wines. Each cuvée is made according to the principle of perpetual reserve, and benefits from at least five years' cellar ageing to express its full balance of taste. The prestige monocru vintage range deserves at least ten years' rest before being tasted. In 2025, two new non-vintage ranges replace Terroir&Sens: Hypothesis and Epitome.
