Grilled, yellow fruit and cold smoke aromas make for a pleasant nose more reminiscent of the beaches of Islay than the hillsides of Champagne. The palate is rather coated by the dosage, but the slightly bitter citrus notes (grapefruit) and the minerality provide the essential touch of freshness. A pleasant finish, enhanced by fine bubbles that linger for a long time.

Vilmart & Cie
Laurent Champs, great-grandson of Désiré Vilmart, took over the estate in 1990. He is now supported by his daughter Morgane. Today, the vineyard comprises 11 hectares planted with chardonnay (60%) and pinot noir, on terroirs classified as premier cru. The entire production is aged for ten months in foudres (some of which are over 40 years old) and oak barrels. Laurent is undoubtedly one of the region's finest winemaker-oil growers.
