Between Reims and Épernay, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, lies the village of Rilly-la-Montagne. It was here that Maurice Lepitre founded his estate in 1905. After his untimely death, his widow took over the estate, which has since been passed down from generation to generation, from woman to woman. Despite the passing decades, the estate has remained on a human scale, with 7 hectares of “premier cru” vineyards planted with Chardonnay—the predominant variety— Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, allowing the estate to offer a limited range of cuvées, some of which are still riddled and bottled by hand.
