Gault&Millau's review 2026

Perched on a rocky outcrop, the medieval village of Crillon-le-Brave is home to a discreetly chic five-star hotel that has become one of the finest addresses in the Vaucluse. More than a hotel, it's a hamlet: nine 17th- and 18th-century buildings, linked by narrow streets and squares lined with vines and dry stone, offer an authentic setting. From the terraces, the panorama stretches from Mont Ventoux to the Dentelles de Montmirail. Designed by Charles Zana, the interior reinvents the Provencal spirit with natural materials and soft hues, enhanced by antique furniture and designer pieces such as Charlotte Perriand stools. The 17 rooms and 17 suites, all different, cultivate this simple elegance, with exposed beams, old terracotta floor tiles and natural linen. The teak terrace by the pool invites you to relax, while you can extend your wellness experience at the Spa by Tata Harper, housed in former stables, or around the restanque petanque court. La Table du Ventoux, orchestrated by chef Thomas Lesage, is the beating heart of the hotel. From breakfast to dinner, his authentic, generous cuisine magnifies Provencal flavors against a unique backdrop: Mont Ventoux and vineyards as far as the eye can see. Add to this a service as discreet as it is efficient, and you have a timeless refuge, the perfect base camp for exploring Provence.
