Jean LORIN

At Riviera III, passionate self-taught winemaker Jean Lorin builds a unique cellar and shares his love of rare wines with his Mediterranean clientele.

Presentation

The grandson of Corsican parents, Jean Lorin grew up surrounded by gourmet cuisine and a passion for wine, inherited from his father. "I was always brought up on the very gourmet cuisine we practiced as a family," he recalls. However, he only joined the restaurant business late in life, after a career in the prestige car industry, first as a mechanic, then as a salesman.

Love at first sight for Riviera III

In 2012, together with his brother Pierre, chef de cuisine, Jean bought Riviera III, a former fisherman's cottage that had been transformed into a bakery and then a restaurant. "We immediately fell in love. The sign pays homage to our elder brother, who passed away too soon. It was during this period that he discovered his passion for wine, thanks in particular to a champagne tasting at a wine shop in Sanary, which triggered"an intense emotion that has never left me since".

A cellar built on trust and expertise

A self-taught sommelier, Jean Lorin builds his cellar with rigor and sensitivity. "I only work with winemakers I know and with whom I have a relationship of trust."He likes to help people discover confidential estates and little-known appellations, such as Bandols, "which don't often get good press in the Var", or Alsace wines.or Alsace wines"for which I have a lot of affection, but which are not easy to sell on the shores of the Mediterranean".

For Jean, every tasting is a sharing experience.
