Remarkable Restaurant

A small inn with a big heart: Moirax is a little miracle—count the number of inns with three or more toques located in villages with fewer than 2,000 residents—and also a source of hope for so many talented young people who want to settle in the countryside. Agathe and Benjamin Toursel lead by example, embodying a successful culinary story—uncompromising, with no burgers or tuna tataki. For over twenty years, Le Prieuré has been a shining star. Some winters are harsh, but faith endures, and fair weather always returns to this beautiful, blessed estate with its serene yet invigorating atmosphere—thanks to these two radiant personalities who ensure visitors have the time of their lives. Whether in the simple yet elegant country-style dining room or on the terrace beneath the paulownia trees, the chef’s cuisine has a purpose and he demonstrates it with pleasure: John Dory, carrots, and sorrel, with a meadowsweet stock; smoked cod, grilled eggplant pulp, sweet chili, cocoa, tomato syrup; pork entrecôte, oyster, beurre blanc, and dill—a rather daring land-and-sea dish that also reveals a strong personality beneath its modest exterior. A wonderful tasting menu for €89, featuring a delightful dessert of fennel, raspberries, and agastache sorbet. A solid selection of regional wines (Da Ros, Cosse…) enhanced by fine selections from the Rhône, Burgundy, and Occitanie.
