Gault&Millau's review2026
Overlooking the ocean in Tharon-Plage, the seaside bistro Beau Boucot bears the signature of Mathieu Guibert, the four-toque-awarded chef of Anne de Bretagne in La Plaine. The setting, with its open view of the sea, offers an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere. The welcome is warm, the service attentive, and the wine list particularly well-curated, featuring a selection of dedicated winemakers and numerous wines available by the glass. As for the dishes, some creations sometimes prioritize rich flavor combinations over the pure expression of the ingredients, but the menu as a whole charms with its generosity, consistency, and bold seasoning. The sea bream and Granny Smith apple ceviche makes for a fresh and crunchy starter, even if the acidity and sweetness slightly overshadow the fish. The main course featuring white asparagus, red mullet, cotriade, and carrot-celery purée aptly celebrates seasonal ingredients in a flavorful dish. For dessert, the vanilla ganache with popcorn praline wraps up the meal on a light note, blending sweetness, toasty notes, and crisp textures. An elegant, authentic, and approachable restaurant that offers excellent value for money in a charming setting.
