Golden, like the ripe fruit releasing its sweet perfume, golden, like the warm cookie, golden, like the rather sunny vintage. Aromas of croissant, pipe tobacco and cinnamon emerge on aeration. This sensation of fullness and richness is reflected in a rather opulent body, underlined by stone-fruit notes (apricot, greengage, vine peach), but not lacking in freshness despite discreet oakiness. The chalky, slightly lemony finish leaves the palate clean, and makes you want more lobster salad.

The Monmarthe family have owned farmland and vineyards in Ludes since 1737, and began their champagne adventure in 1930. Over the generations, the company grew and expanded, modernized and developed new markets in France and abroad. The 17-hectare vineyard is entirely located in Ludes, a premier cru of the Montagne de Reims, and is divided into 22 parcels. Jean-Guy Monmarthe, the sixth generation of winegrowers, runs the company and preserves this exceptional terroir with Gauthier (seventh generation), who intends to continue the fine path traced by his ancestors.
