Gault&Millau's review 2023

The winemaker has not added any expedition liqueur to this cuvée. So it's the grapes' natural sugar that provides the slight sweetness on the palate, giving it a saline, unctuous, thirst-quenching chew. The bitterness on the finish is perfect with lobster fricassee. Excellent value for money.

This family-run winery is located south of the Côte des Blancs in the Petit Morin Valley in Courjeonnet. The 6-hectare vineyard is near the Saint-Gond marshes, which help protect the vines from adverse weather conditions. With winemaking traditions passed down from father to son for two centuries, Etienne Chéré first began selling his wines in the 1980s. Since 2018, his three children have taken over the estate, refining cultivation methods while respecting the terroir and the environment. The estate is certified HVE (High Environmental Value) and VDC (Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne).
