Gault&Millau's review 2026

Evolutionary notes arrive on the first nose, with undergrowth, truffles, curry and ripe yellow fruit. Then elegant floral and candied citrus take center stage. The palate is spicy, fresh, salivating and full-bodied, with a hint of tenderness. What complexity, with a remarkable price-pleasure ratio. A must-have for the cellar.

Max Cochut
Max Cochut
The Cochut family has been in the wine business since the 19th century. At the end of World War I, Louis Cochut expanded his wine-making operations and began marketing his wine. In 1956, he acquired the Château de Tauxières-Mutry with his son Max. Max launched his own brand under his name in 1972, and in 1990, he broke away from the cooperative and established his own winery at the château. Max’s children and grandchildren currently manage the estate’s 23 hectares, 80% of which are planted with Pinot Noir on Premier Cru and Grand Cru terroirs in the Montagne de Reims. The estate’s wines undergo a long aging process on the lees, averaging nearly 8 years.
