The nose is very Mesnil, with notes of lemon, lime and white chalk, even though the wine is from the 2011 vintage. On the palate, the wine is taut, mineral and racy. This is a champagne with an assertive style to be opened with seafood.

Michel Gonet

While the Gonet family has owned vines in Mesnil-sur-Oger for seven generations, Michel Gonet chose to strike out on his own, setting up his own business in Avize in 1973. He quickly bought vineyards, building up a comfortable estate, four-fifths of which is planted with Chardonnay. Assisted now by his children (his daughter Sophie is co-manager of the estate), he has for many years been offering a series of excellent grands crus with great regularity.
