A very light color for this 2009 with abundant, lively mousse. The nose is both pure and complex, with notes of candied lemon, brioche and gentian. On the palate, the wine is racy, with a well-constructed structure and perfectly vibrant fruit. An elegant finish. Delicious on its own today, but can also wait.

Founded in 1846 and located in the heart of the Côte des Bar vineyards, in an 18th-century manor house, Champagne Devaux emphasizes its guiding principle, “the luxury of time,” in the production of its wines. These wines benefit from a long aging period—at least 5 years for the “Collection D” and 10 years for its vintages—ensuring aromatic complexity and great finesse. Pinot Noir makes up the vast majority of the blend, combined with Chardonnays from Montgueux and the Côte des Blancs. As a brand of the L’Union Auboise cooperative, the winery dedicates 130 hectares of vineyards to this production, part of which is certified organic.
