The complex, juicy nose, with notes of Sicilian lemon and exotic fruit, already expresses the distinctive scent of white chalk. On the palate, the chiselled, extra-fine bubbles perfectly convey the distinguished flavours of chalk. Perfectly dry, the finish lingers on minerality. A champagne with a strong personality to be served as an aperitif.

A member of the exclusive Union des Maisons de Champagne (UMC), this family—which has been based in the village of Aÿ since the 17th century—currently cultivates 10 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards. The house uses oak barrels from the Argonne Forest, which gives its champagnes a distinctive elegance and subtle oak character. Winemaking in oval stoneware vats enhances the expression of the terroirs and the wines’ vibrancy. This approach, pioneered by Claude Giraud and now carried on by Emmanuelle, the thirteenth generation of the family, is one worth emulating.
