What a lovely, fresh and cheerful nose of mint and cedar! Then come notes of honey and gazelle horn, where flowers blend with pastry. Lemon and tangerine zest also appear. The attack is delicate, but the tonicity of the bubbles and the vertical dynamics capture the senses. The wine is ripe and generous. Refreshing menthol notes appear on the finish, with minerality and delicacy in perfect harmony. Persistence, vinosity, a noble substance for a great gourmet champagne.

Egly-Ouriet

Family-run for four generations, the domaine is now run by Clémence and Charles Egly, for whom the grape is everything. They farm 16 hectares of grand cru in Ambonnay, Verzenay, Bouzy and also Vrigny (premier cru) with a rather Burgundian approach. Their champagnes are extremely precise, with velvety, spicy tannins. The "Vieilles Vignes" blanc de noirs is literally magical, and the red Ambonnay coteaux champenois is always at the top of the region. In recent years, the range has been extended to include vineyards on the Saint-Thierry massif, northwest of Reims, where the soils are sandier and the definition of the wine is different.
