Rich nose of candied and dried fruits, with a hint of bergamot. On the palate, the different elements follow one another: a lively effervescence dissipates to reveal a dense structure with pretty bitters. Finally, acidity appears and carries the wine. The finish is fleshy, fruity and fresh. The various elements are there, but not yet integrated. We'll have to wait a little for them to settle in.

Égly-Ouriet
A family-owned estate for four generations, it is now managed by Francis, Charles, and Clémence Égly, who cultivate 10 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay, Verzenay, and Bouzy, 2 hectares of Premier Cru Pinot Meunier on the Vrigny terroir, and 1.5 hectares—primarily Chardonnay—in Bisseuil. Their champagnes, with their velvety and spicy textures, are exceptionally precise. In recent years, the range has expanded to include vineyards on the Saint-Thierry massif northwest of Reims—specifically, 7 hectares in Trigny—where the soils are sandier and the wines exhibit a distinct character.
